NEWS

Next up: Come join us at the Bucks County Playhouse this holiday season to see our beautiful production of "Anastasia" by the late great Terrence McNally, and my friends and inspirations Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. I'm playing the Empress Dowager Maria Fyodorovna, alongside a wonderfully talented cast directed by Eric Rosen. Tickets and info are here

Earlier this year, I was deeply honored to be this year's recipient of the Patrick Quinn Award for distinguished service from the Actors' Equity Foundation. Patrick leaves an enduring legacy of stalwart and compassionate leadership, and this recognition of my advocacy work is profoundly meaningful to me.

I was also recently awarded a place in the Lucille Lortel Theatre's Alcove New Play Development "Leap of Faith" cohort in support of my new play "Unnatural Causes".

I have been working with my incredible collaborator and friend composer Cecilia Lin on a couple of new projects: FUSONG, an adaptation of a powerful novel by Geling Yan, directed by Gabriel Barre, and NOBLE FAMILY, a gorgeous adaptation of the popular Chinese television series by the same name. More news on both, soon!

I'm thrilled to be one of the inaugural recipients of a Catalyst for Change Fellowship from the Dramatists Guild Foundation, to create The Asian American Theatre Artists Collective. You can follow us at @aatheatreartists on instagram as we roll out initiatives to amplify and illuminate AAPI theatre artists across all disciplines. Unfortunately we hired a coding company that was not capable of delivering what they promised, so we've been delayed on our launch of the directory till early 2025 so we can work with a new collaborator.

I've been elected for a second term as Treasurer of the Dramatists Guild, along with Amanda Green (our first female President), Branden Jacobs-Jenkins as VP and Kristoffer Diaz as Secretary. To read more, here's the original press release. The Guild exists to protect our copyright and prevent the exploitation of theatre writers, especially in times when the erosion of all our Constitutional rights is in serious view. Our work is cut out for us.

Seasons 1,2, 3, 4, and 5 of the podcast that I host for the Guild, "The Dramatists Guild presents Talkback" are available to listen to on the Broadway Podcast Network, Apple, and Spotify. We're on pause for season 6, but we are on track to come back next year!

My new musical FUSONG (based on Geling Yan's novel "The Lost Daughter of Happiness"), for which I wrote book & lyrics with composer Cecilia Lin, conceived & directed by Gabriel Barre, just completed its first 29-hour reading/industry presentation in NYC. Stay tuned for some exciting developments! (Picture L to R: Gabriel Barre, me, Cecilia Lin.)

I wrote screenplay and lyrics with composer Michael Mott for this movie musical short, RIDING OUT THE STORM. Directed by Bruce Johnson and featuring Mimi Bessette, Wade McCollum, Diana Huey, and Mel Maghuyop, this film began as a 10-minute musical written during our time at the BMI Workshop. Here's the trailer. You can see more info about Riding Out The Storm at Moongate Artists

A Little More Blue Poster 2.jpg

I was so happy to get to perform my solo play with music,  A LITTLE MORE BLUE,  in NYC and LA recently. For more information on how to bring us to a city near you, please contact my agent Mark Orsini at Bret Adams, Ltd.
